Indie Supporter Spotlight: February 2022

Welcome to February’s Indie Supporter Spotlight!

This is where you can find out more about the great projects that our Patreon supporters are working on; Indie Bandits wouldn’t be possible without their kind support!

Let’s check them out!

Playtest Kit

New to the Indie Supporter Spotlight is Playtest Kit, which isn’t an indie game, but rather a product that a lot of indie devs could really do with.

Playtesting is essential for making fun games, but playtests are difficult to organise, and can take a lot of time and money to get right. Our supporter Steve Bromley (author of How To Be A Games User Researcher) has been interviewing game developers to discover what makes playtesting difficult, and how to make playtesting easy and efficient.

This month, Playtest Kit is going through a final review with indie developers, game designers, producers, community managers, UX designers and solo devs, and hoping to launch very soon!

Alien Death Mob

Another new supporter this month is Pug Fugly Games with their current project Alien Death Mob.

This game is a chaotic twin-stick shooter that allows the player to use bullet-time to get out of sticky situations.

Aside from already featuring 30 missions and a whole bunch of power-ups, there’s an update on the way that’ll include 5 more story levels and 4 different arcade modes based on some old-school classics like Robotron, Berzerk, and Space Invaders.

You can pick up the game on Steam and it’s an absolute steal at just a couple bucks!

Leif

The folks at Anaconda Game Studios knee-deep in production of LEIF, their epic Metroidvania-RPG.

They’ve been rigging the Leif character model and refining the animations, with a particular focus on the hair and fabric animations for those epic hero poses in the wind!

They’ve also finished the 3D models of a young werewolf and a cat, with the latter likely to feature in the playable demo they’re butting together.

The spider cave we mentioned in our previous Indie Supporter Spotlight is coming along nicely, too with some lighting to create more realistic environments.

We don’t have any pictures to share so we’ll just have to whet your appetite with this concept art.

For more information on LEIF and Anaconda Game Studio’s other projects, visit their Facebook, Twitter, or Discord server.

VanillaBeast: Ace in the Hole

For the last, but not least, of this month’s updates, we have Vanilla Gaming Company, who are hard at work getting the Kickstarter for VanillaBeast: Ace in the Hole ready.

In preparation for it, they’ve been getting the word out and had their trailer premiere on Shack News and get featured on IGN.

Check it out!

To keep up-to-date with VanillaBeast: Ace in the Hole, make sure to wishlist it on Steam.

The Supporter Spotlight is one of the perks on our Patreon Gold Tier. It’s thanks to these great supporters that we can continue doing Indie Bandits and celebrating independent games with all of you.

If you’d like your game to be featured in an upcoming article, you can support us on Patreon for this and other perks or buy us a coffee if you appreciate what we do to celebrate independent games.
