We were lucky to get to Guadalindie in Málaga, Spain, this year. This was the first time we’d attended a real-life event as Indie Bandits and the first time that the event had occurred.
We recorded lots of video (more coming soon!), played many indie games, and chatted with the lovely developers behind the projects.
Here are just a few of the games we tried and loved. Be sure to check them out.
Evolution: From the little light

We found this little gem when we were looking for a game that might be scary. Don’t let the darkness fool you; this isn’t a horror game.
Instead, Evolution: From the little light is a 2D adventure game with exploration, puzzles, and Metroidvania elements.
It’s being developed by Mysterious Hat and will be released in 2025 on Steam.
Temtem: Swarm

Temtem: Swarm has you playing as adorable creatures known as Temtem as you fight against, you guessed it, a swarm of baddies.
We got to play this for a bit, and despite the chaos onscreen, it was actually rather zen. There were good breaks in the gameplay to upgrade and develop abilities.
Temtem: Swarm is being developed by Crema and is expected to come out towards the end of 2024 on Steam.
Room Battle

Imagine Overcooked crossed with Mario Kart’s battle mode but with robot vacuum cleaners.
This is what you get with Room Battle. We played it with two players (just the two bandits), but you can play it with up to six players.
Room Battle is good clean fun.
Dust Games is developing it, and an old build from the university project that started it is on the devs’ Itch.io page.

Battlecore Robots

Another competitive multiplayer game, Battlecore Robots, reminded us of the 1998 PSX game The Unholy War.
We got to play this 3D mech fighting game in 2-player mode, but you can try it for up to 4 players.
You can also try out the demo on the Steam page, which we’d recommend doing with 3 other friends at least.
Battlecore Robots is being developed by YellowFall Games.
ONE BTN BOSSES

ONE BTN BOSSES is coming out on PC, but there are so many other platforms this game would be excellent on.
This game is played pressing just one button, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
This is an addictive and stylized game that involves strategy and skill as you face off against geometric bosses.
Wishlist this one on Steam and keep an eye out for a playable demo when it’s available and the game once it’s released.
It’s being developed by Midnight Munchies.
Resistance 204X
Last but not least, we have Resistance 204X, an indie fighting game with simple controls but potential depth for fans of the genre.
The game combines elements of Nidhogg (notably how fights are won) with classic fighting games like Street Fighter.
The game also lives and breathes fighting game culture, with genre-specific jargon exploding onto the screen when you land certain moves.
Resistance 204X is being developed by Julio Quiroz and can be wishlisted on Steam.
